About the DUA

Dallas players have been playing a Winter League in the DFW area since the 1980′s.  The Dallas Ultimate Association was founded in the late 1990′s by Rex O., Tad M., and Kip W.  The intention was to promote the playing of Ultimate Frisbee in North Texas.  They formed a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization that could sign legal contracts for fields, organize Ultimate’s growth in the DFW Metroplex, and attract sponsorship.  The Dallas Ultimate Organization first contracted for the Polo Fields in Los Colinas as a site for Winter League since Season 2000.  In the 2006-7, John S. and Michael F. took over as leaders and coordinators of the DUA.  A whole bunch of volunteers have helped the DUA run Dallas Winter League for the past 12 years, lining fields, preparing & serving food, taking out trash, constructing schedules, and generally assisting & directing play.  Dallas Winter League has grown from 200 players in Season 2000 to over 500 players in Season 2011, in which 24 teams played at the polo fields in Oak Point, Texas.  The DUA has supported Youth, High School, College, and Open – Women’s, Men’s, & Mixed team Ultimate in the DFW area since inception, in addition to running the Dallas Winter League.
